Mackenzie Construction commences Ferguslie Green Line community regeneration project
Work has commenced on the Ferguslie Green Line – Belltrees external works project for Renfrewshire Council. At the end of last year, we were awarded the contract that will see derelict land transformed into a new multi-functional green space with natural play trails, event areas, improved active travel routes and enhanced biodiversity.
The project forms a central part of The Making of Ferguslie, a long-term, community-led framework developed with local residents to reimagine the area and deliver lasting change. Funding has been provided through the Scottish Government’s Vacant and Derelict Land Investment Programme and Place Based Investment Programme, alongside the UK Government’s Strategic Prosperity Fund.
Councillor Andy Steel, Convener of Renfrewshire Council’s Economy and Regeneration Policy Board, said:
“This is another fantastic step forward for the regeneration of Ferguslie Park as projects continue to be delivered that make a real difference to the local community and the people who live there.
This project will bring back into use a significant piece of land for residents and visitors to enjoy and it follows on the back of the new Neighbourhood Centre activity space being created which is already extremely well used by local people.
“We’ll continue to work hard to deliver exciting, beneficial projects for Ferguslie as we continue its transformation and ensure it remains a place that people are proud to live.”
Andy Dalrymple, Managing Director at Mackenzie Construction, added:
“We’ve seen first-hand the difference that community transformation projects can make. Being involved in turning previously unused land into a vibrant, shared space for the people of Ferguslie is something we’re genuinely proud of and it’s rewarding to contribute to a project that will be enjoyed by the local community for years to come.”
