Mackenzie Construction supports Doddie’s Triple Crown 2026

Mackenzie Construction is proud to be supporting Doddie’s Triple Crown 2026, Rob Wainwright and Mark Beaumont’s epic annual cycling challenge in aid of My Name’5 Doddie Foundation. The event, which brings together riders and support teams from across the UK, raises vital funds and awareness for motor neurone disease (MND).

The cause holds deep personal significance for the business. During the Covid pandemic, Mackenzie Construction lost one of its highly respected foremen, James Patia, to MND. James had been with the company for ten years and was widely admired and liked across the business. Due to pandemic restrictions, colleagues were unable to attend his funeral and instead came together to mark his passing with a minute’s silence, alongside the decision to support My Name’5 Doddie Foundation in his memory for two consecutive years as our chosen charity, the first time Mackenzie Construction had ever made that commitment.

Mackenzie Construction’s involvement in Doddie’s Triple Crown 2026 is dedicated to James.

Setting off from Melrose, the challenge will take place from Tuesday 10th to Friday 13th March, covering 800 miles over the four days. The challenge concludes with the teams arriving in Dublin the evening before Scotland takes on Ireland at the Aviva Stadium. Construction Director, Mark Wilson, is taking part in the challenge as a member of one of the riding teams.

Mark commented, “Taking part in Doddie’s Triple Crown is incredibly meaningful for me personally and for Mackenzie Construction as a whole. We’re supporting this challenge in memory of James Patia, who was a huge part of our team and is still very much remembered. Being involved is our way of showing continued support for the foundation and for everyone affected by MND.”

Through its support of Doddie’s Triple Crown, Mackenzie Construction is proud to raise awareness and funds for MND research and support, while remembering a colleague who meant a great deal to the business.
