Mackenzie Construction Hosts Dundee & Angus College Students

In collaboration with the CECA Scotland Academy, Mackenzie Construction welcomed a group of students from Dundee and Angus College. The students visited the Monifieth Burgh Yard WWPS to gain invaluable insight into the works under way on site.

The Mackenzie team discussed the site’s history with the group, noting that it once was home to a foundry and later a caravan park. They explained the series of historical leaks on the mains, which are currently under repair, and showed how past issues influence current decisions on long-term solutions.

Health and safety formed a steady thread throughout the visit. The students saw the induction process, MS/RAMS, operational constraints and day-to-day safe working routines.

The site visit coincided with the Mackenzie Team setting up temporary works, which provided a practical tie-in to the students’ temporary works module that they have been studying this term.

The day was a great success with the students gaining a practical understanding of live site operations. It was also a great opportunity for Mackenzie Construction to meet the emerging talent who are beginning to shape their careers in the industry within the Dundee & Angus region.
