Challenges and collaboration:
The project was delivered in a live environment, with adjacent residential and commercial properties remaining fully operational throughout. Construction activities were carefully planned to minimise disruption, with proactive measures taken to manage noise, privacy, and access.
A key highlight was the collaborative engagement with East Renfrewshire Council and local primary schools. This partnership fostered community involvement and added a personal touch to the project.
Community impact:
Children from Thornliebank Primary School contributed artwork that was beautifully integrated into the newly surfaced paths—bringing colour, creativity, and a sense of ownership to the space.
Feedback from the community and stakeholders was overwhelmingly positive. Councillor Danny Devlin shared:
“Our thanks go to the pupils from Thornliebank Primary for inspiring our artwork, local businesses for getting involved, and our teams and contractors for getting the projects underway and completed.”
Contractor statement:
In a press release issued by East Renfrewshire Council, Mackenzie Construction commented:
“As the contractors responsible for delivering this fantastic environmental improvement project, we want to extend our thanks to East Renfrewshire Council for their vision, support, and collaboration throughout. It has been a pleasure working to enhance the local area and create a space the community can enjoy.”
“Perhaps the most rewarding aspect has been incorporating the incredible artwork from local primary school children, adding a unique and personal touch that brings colour and vibrancy to the space.”
